Our Motivation

Our daughter, Bernadette, is an amazing child with an infectious smile.  She has an ability to touch every person’s heart that she comes in contact with.  Bernadette was diagnosed in 2017 with a rare genetic disorder called Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome when she was 2 months old.  This syndrome affects roughly 1 out of every 250,000 people.  It causes global developmental delays, low muscle tone, moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, short stature, and problems with speech.  Since the time of diagnosis, we wondered what we would do when Bernie was an adult.  We have been looking into facilities that would meet our expectations while providing an environment for her to grow. By 2023 our family and many families like ours still could not find that place so we put our dream into action and started Bernie’s Happy Home.

Live Here

Bernie’s Happy Home is currently not accepting residents as we are in the process of acquiring funds to open the home.  Residents of Bernie’s Happy Home will need to have family volunteers that are willing to donate time to provide care to all residents.  Volunteers will undergo training to help ensure care is adequate.  This will help keep the cost of care more affordable.
